Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences and Technology of Jammu (SKUAST-Jammu) came into existence on 20th September, 1999 following the amendment in Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences and Technology Act, 1982, through the State Legislature. The establishment of SKUAST of Jammu has in its background aspirations, commitment and missionary zeal to cater the needs of Jammu Division for the region specific advances through education, research and extension in the field of agriculture.
The university is mandated to address the basic, strategic and applied research related to enhanced production in agriculture and allied sectors (livestock health improvement and quality based products). SKUAST-Jammu is striving to achieve high standards of excellence in education, research and extension for the betterment of farming community of the region. SKUAST-J is a multi-campus university with it's headquarter located at Chatha, Jammu. The Faculty of Agriculture (FOA) at Chatha possess 231.2 ha area and Faculty of Veterinary Sciences & Animal Husbandry (F.V.Sc. & AH) at R. S. Pura has 84.13 ha land holding. The total land holding, including Research Stations/Sub-Stations and KVKs, of the University is 455.65 ha. There are Eight Research Stations/Sub-Stations and seven KVKs in the University which are located in different agro-climatic zones of Jammu region for catering the location-specific needs of the farming community. University pursues research of high standard through projects funded by various central and state agencies.

Leela Dhar Mangi
Leela Dhar Mangi was awarded gold medal for securing first position in Library & Information Science. He has qualified UGC-NET, JKSLET (Assistant Librarian) and JKSET for lectureship. He has served as online Librarian in the "The Himalayan Mail" an English Daily of Jammu & Kashmir. He was founder Librarian at Dogra Law College, first Law College in the state of Jammu & Kashmir. He has established two University libraries by serving as Assistant Librarian at Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences & Technology of Jammu and founder Deputy Librarian at Baba Ghulam Shah University, Rajouri. He is also patron of Indian Library Association and life member of Indian Association of Special Libraries and Information Centers. He has contributed in several local and national workshops / seminars / conferences /orientation / refresher courses including lectures at International Resource Cell and has publications/ reviews at International level. He has acted as an instructor in the discipline of Library & Information services for post Graduate and Doctoral students. Working as independent researcher and research interests include human behaviour, agricultural libraries, librarianship, information systems, motivation and job satisfaction, working conditions of library professionals. Author has also mobilize funds from funding agencies in the form of projects at SKUAST-J Library and at BGSB University.
