This book the United Nations World Tourism Organization (UNWTO) defines tourists as people "traveling to and staying in places outside their usual environment for not more than one consecutive year for leisure, business and other purposes". Tourism has become a popular global leisure activity. Today, tourism is a major source of income for many countries, and affects the economy of both the source and host countries, in some cases being of vital importance. Tourism in India is important for the country's economy and is growing rapidly. The World Travel and Tourism Council calculated that tourism generated 16.91 lakh crore (US$240 billion) or 9.2% of India's GDP in 2018 and supported 42.673 million jobs, 8.1% of its total employment.

Dr. K. Karthick is the Faculty Member in Centre for Tourism and Hotel Management, Madurai Kamaraj University, Madurai, Tamilnadu. He is a man of good words and a man of diligent work leading to success in several walks of Life. He is passionate about discovering new cultures, new traditions, and new ways of enjoying life to the fullest, which lead him to choose Tourism Management as the course of study. After his Graduation in Masters in Tourism, He has completed his Master of Philosophy from the Famous Gandhigram Rural University, Dindugal. After his M.Phil Programme he returned to Madurai Kamaraj University to take up his Doctorate in Tourism Management under the guidance of Dr.B.George, Associate Professor and Head, Department of Tourism Management, Madurai Kamaraj University College. Dr. K. Karthick has organized and Assisted with leading National tour Organiser in an amateur way for the students and his Friends. He has visited every Tourism Destination in India at least Five times till Date.
