The carpet industry in India is developing at a fast pace and has expanded now to various places in the country. What was once a small industry only operating in certain pockets has developed very well now. However though it is expanding it needs to get more organized and this is where the role played by professional organizations like Indian Institute of Entrepreneurship (IIE) becomes critical. One of the clusters that have a lot of potential is the Okhrey carpet making cluster located in Sikkim in the north eastern part of India. In the Okrhey carpet making cluster it is observed that almost every artisan is well equipped with skills of carpet making but they have not been able to progress on desired lines as the availability of raw materials is a big problem and there are not adequate looms (weaving machine) available for weaving. The objective of this comprehensive study undertaken in the Okhrey structure is to understand the support that is required by them to increase productivity as a whole and also suggest ways and measures how the entire process of production can be improved to make it more efficient. The other aspect is to understand the avenues available for marketing and how it can be improved upon. In all the cluster has a lot of potential so it is envisaged that with proper support from a professional organization like Indian Institute of Entrepreneurship (IIE), there can be tremendous potential for growth.
